Dr. Gaurav Sharma brings cutting-edge expertise in plant-based protein technology to Ingredly. As the co-founder of Shandi Global, a Singapore-based company he launched in 2019 with Dr. Reena Sharma, he pioneered innovative plant-based meat alternatives.

With a Ph.D. in Chemistry focused on nutrition and pharmaceutical ingredients, Dr. Sharma's scientific background underpins his approach to plant-based protein development. His experience as a food flavor industry expert further enhances his ability to create appealing plant-based products.

At Shandi Global, Dr. Sharma developed a proprietary 5-patent process using natural, non-GMO ingredients like pea protein, chickpeas, and quinoa to create plant-based chicken products that closely mimic meat's texture and cooking properties. This innovation led to rapid adoption, with Shandi's products served in over 50 food establishments and reaching 18,000 people daily in Singapore within a year of launch.

Dr. Sharma's work addresses global food security challenges by creating sustainable, affordable, and nutritious meat alternatives. His expertise in process optimization and sustainability guided the establishment of Singapore's largest plant-based chicken manufacturing facility.

At Prava, Dr. Sharma aims to leverage his experience from Shandi Global to develop plant-based protein solutions tailored for the North American market. His scientific acumen and proven track record in food innovation position him to drive Prava’s mission of providing high-quality, sustainable plant-based proteins.
